Campaign Ambassador - Thomas Light
Name: Thomas Light
Sports: Football/Futsal
Locality: St Albans
My name is Thomas and I love playing football. When I was younger, my mum and dad helped me find my first teams. From age eight I've played for St Albans City Youth FC Inclusive Section. Now that I’m a bit older, I have also started coaching and it makes me feel incredible. I coach for Inclusive United and in 2023/2024 they helped me complete my supported internship. Before I did my internship, it was hard trying to coach but everyone at Inclusive United has shown real belief in me. My Mum and Hannah Coote have really helped me to be a better coach, and now, when I am running sessions, it makes me so happy.
I really like making new drills and showing people what they need to do. I say that when you coach you just need to be patient and stay calm. Then it’ll all be ok! I now feel so confident with coaching, and it means so much to me! In the future I want to continue coaching and help others to learn. I want people to see what I can do and not what they think I can’t.
I also worked at Hertfordshire Sports Village where I helped set up sessions for people who come in. It's great fun and I think I improved my communicating through this work. Remember, always be happy with what you do, just like me when I coach and work.
