My sporting journey began at just four years old, where I developed a love for being active through cricket, football, swimming, and skiing. As I grew older, my passion for sport expanded, and by the age of 10 I was regularly participating in netball, hockey, and athletics. However, as an individual with an upper limb amputation, I became increasingly aware of the barriers within sport, particularly at an elite level. I felt as though opportunities in team sports were limited, and I faced challenges such as high costs and reduced funding within the disability sport sector. Despite this, I remained determined to continue and pursue the opportunities available to me.

A key turning point came when I started university, where I made the difficult decision to step away from the team sports I loved and fully commit to athletics as my main area for progression. Although I initially missed the team environment, this experience has helped me develop resilience, independence, and determination. My parents have been a constant source of encouragement, not only financially but also through the time and commitment they gave to ensure I could access training and competition opportunities. More recently, my development in athletics has also been shaped by the guidance of my coach at Loughborough and I am incredibly grateful for the support I have received from SportsAid, Aldi, RunForRon, and Nike. This, combined with the access to facilities through Everyone Active, has enabled me to train consistently and continue progressing in my sport where I am now a multiple British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) champion.

Looking ahead, my goal is to complete my Human Biology degree and continue challenging myself through new opportunities. This includes my plans to take part in a triathlon post-university. My journey has shown me that while barriers exist, with the right support and mindset, they can be overcome. Sport should be enjoyable for all.
