Football has always been a big part of my life. I played to semi-professional level, but over time my involvement in the game changed and I stepped away from playing competitive women’s football.

During the COVID lockdown, I set up a page to help athletes stay active and connected. This eventually developed into a 1-1 football coaching business, where I was introduced to Tracy, Thomas and Nick Light and became involved in inclusive sport. It was through this that I began to see just how much sport can offer people beyond what happens on the pitch, from building confidence and friendships to giving people a sense of belonging and purpose.

Through this, I started supporting St Albans City Youth FC’s Inclusive Section and have since taken on the role as Head of Inclusive Section, supporting over 100 players from U10 through to adult football. For me, it’s really important that everyone involved feels comfortable, included and supported, whether they’re a player or a coach. I’ve also had the opportunity to mentor other coaches, helping them build their confidence and become fantastic role models which has been highly rewarding.

Alongside this, I am a Director of Inclusive United CIC, which we launched in 2023. We create daytime inclusive sport, wellbeing and employability programmes for young adults aged 16+ with learning disabilities, SEN and additional needs across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. We reach an average of 130 young adults each week, and every day we see first-hand the positive impact inclusive sport can have on individuals. I’m incredibly proud of what we have built so far and excited to see what the future holds for Inclusive United.

I am currently undergoing my FA UEFA B qualification and have also taken on a role as U9s Head Coach at Arsenal Women’s ETC. This has been a fantastic opportunity to continue developing as a coach while helping to support and inspire a new generation of talented young players.

As someone with ADHD, I also understand that people can experience sport and learning in different ways. This experience is something I try to bring into all of my environments. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue growing inclusive sport within communities and supporting many more players along the way!
