I first started playing football for Harvesters FC, and from the moment I joined, I knew sport was something I wanted to be part of. I have cerebral palsy and there were times when I faced barriers, especially trying to keep up with the pace of the game. I sometimes found it difficult learning how to work effectively with different teammates but being placed into a cerebral palsy team was a turning point. It made me feel seen, included and part of a group where everyone was encouraged to play at their own pace and ability. That sense of belonging had a huge impact on my confidence and enjoyment of sport.

My parents were a big part of helping me find the right place to play. They spent time researching local football clubs, and my coaches also supported me in finding opportunities that suited my needs. Their encouragement helped me keep moving forward and reminded me that there is always a way to stay involved in sport, no matter the challenges.

Around the age of twelve, I moved to Broxbourne, and that opened the door to boccia - a sport that quickly became just as important to me as football. Achieving my boccia coaching award at such a young age made me feel proud and grateful, especially because it gave me the chance to play alongside teammates who understood me and supported my journey.

Looking ahead, my ambition is to referee boccia at a global level and eventually be part of the Paralympics. To get there, I know I need to complete the next referee coaching qualification, and that’s the goal I’m working towards. I want to use my journey to show others that barriers can be overcome and that there is a place for everyone in sport.
