What is Active Local?
Active Local is a new initiative by the Partnership taking a place-based approach to reducing inactivity in Hertfordshire. The initiative will focus on a target area within each of Hertfordshire’s ten local authorities. Working in partnership with the relevant district or borough council, Active Local will involve those living and working in the target areas in responding to local needs and targeting where support, intervention or extra capacity is needed to create a more joined-up approach to tackling inactivity.
Active Local will identify what matters to people in their local area and within their communities. We will establish objectives and outcomes that relate specifically to the areas. These objectives and outcomes will be discovered through engagement activities with those living and working in the areas. We hope to create local steering groups, bringing together community groups and clubs, organisations and residents, that will support us in setting long-term objectives and, crucially, allow us to leave in place an accessible, affordable and appropriate sport and physical activity offer.
