Women’s Only Bootcamp Launches in Sele to Support Local Young Women
AITC launched a Women’s Only Bootcamp in Sele, offering women an attractable and affordable weekly exercise class
Women’s Only Bootcamp Launches in Sele to Support Local Young Women
Through completing community consultation and talking to over 50 young women aged 16-25 living in Sele, Active in the Community (AITC) identified a lack of accessible and affordable opportunities for women to engage in physical activity and reap the holistic benefits of a supportive group exercise environment. Through this feedback, AITC were able to work with Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership (HSP) to secure funding from the National Lottery, Awards for All fund to set up women's exercise provision in order to create a safe, welcoming and accessible session for local women to benefit and importantly feel comfortable attending.
This 'Women’s Only' approach set out to offset any barriers, worries or insecurities faced by local women, and provide an inclusive and supportive opportunity to attend a weekly community class. With the ‘Bootcamp’ style of exercise being a popular and on trend form of exercise, being able to provide an accessible and affordable version of this is key to supporting engagement of young women through bringing this class to a central location within Sele.
Lead by local Instructor Lorna Catchpole, 'Women’s Only Bootcamp' is a weekly Wednesday class running from 6-6.45pm at The Sele School. The Bootcamp launched on in October and has grown week on week. The team enjoy a 45 minute Bootcamp style workout combining cardio, HITT, strength and conditioning, working at their own pace and improving week on week.
