Lea Wharf Medical Surgery Host Open Day Promoting Movement and Wellbeing
Patients attended Lea Wharf Medical Surgery's Open Day to learn more about being physically active to support their health and wellbeing
On the 21st September, members of the Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership (HSP) Health team attended Lea Wharf Medical Surgery’s Open Day themed on the importance of Health, Wellbeing and Movement. Lea Wharf were previously successful in becoming an Active Practice and are continuing to prove that they are embedding movement into their surgery by raising awareness of the importance of staying or starting to be active whatever age or condition.
Lea Wharf invited a variety of guests to the Open Day including HSP, Hertfordshire Healthwalks, Social Prescribers, First Point Physio (for advice on starting or returning to activity) and Everyone Active to promote their support for those with long-term health conditions. Everyone Active also provided short activity taster sessions including seated pilates.
The Open Day allowed patients and residents to get a taster of what activities are on offer in and around Hertford. HSP promoted the Moving More Activity Finder, showcasing a host of great sessions in Hertford, whilst also promoting the Live Longer Better in Hertfordshire (LLBiH) revolution which focuses on active ageing and proving it’s never too late to start being active.
Thank you to Lea Wharf Medical Surgery and to Scarlett Lear their Business Practice Apprentice who organised the day and for inviting us along to promote our message to get more people, more active, more often.
