Summit achievement for Live Longer Better Champion

Champion Deputy Lieutenant Air Vice-Marshal Nick Kurth takes on Mont Ventoux

Live Longer Better in Hertfordshire Champion, Deputy Lieutenant Air Vice- Marshal Nick Kurth, reached the summit of Mont Ventoux in France last week on his bike. The climb has been used 18 times on the Tour de France and ranks as the 3rd hardest climb in France. Nick went on a long weekend trip with his cycling club (Berkhamstead Cycling Club) to the region. Nick stated, ' it has been on my 'to do' list for many years and the club provided the opportunity for me to go. Without question, I found it a very hard cycling climb. The word 'relentless' is used for many cycling ascents and, in this case, it is very much deserved!'

Taking a wider view, Nick went on to say, ‘I think it is important to have a goal when undertaking activities, no matter what sort of activities, as it focuses one’s effort.’  So, what is your goal?  Whether you complete gym-related activities, outdoor sports or recreational physical pursuits give some thought to what you want to achieve - and go for it!
