NSPCC Sport

It is crucial that everyone plays their part in safeguarding and protecting children and young people. By attending training and events, you will develop your knowledge and skills to help you to recognise and respond to abuse or harm. 

NSPCC Sport works to build a caring, inclusive culture where children and young people can thrive and enjoy themselves through sport and physical activity, whatever their level. It is funded by UK sports councils to support, advise and train sports bodies, physical activity providers and leisure operators, as well as parents and carers. Because safeguarding in sport is a team effort.

It works with the sport and physical activity sector to:  

• provide tailored training and consultancy to professionals and volunteers in sport
• make sure sport and activity organisations give the highest level of protection to children and young people
• support organisations to meet their nationally-recognised Safeguarding Standards
• develop practical support and advice for parents and carers through the Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport campaign

Children’s sport should be exciting, fulfilling and fun. But most of all, it should be safe.

There are currently no formal qualifications specifically for safeguarding children in sport, however, a number of organisations have developed courses to help you and your team to keep children safe.
