Inclusion - Inclusion in Sport Learning Series - Autumn 2024 Webinar Programme
Inclusive principles are central to the Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership (HSP) Strategy, and as part of our workforce development strand, we want to empower colleagues to develop inclusive approaches and ensure that organisations live and breathe these values, so they are welcoming and open to all.
We have teamed up with Inclusive Employers, an organisation specializing in inclusion training in the sport sector, to bring you the 'Inclusion in Sport Learning Series', consisting of ten FREE 90-minute webinars, designed to increase colleagues' confidence and awareness of inclusion and diversity.
Read below for more details on the next four webinars in the series and how to register.
Banter and Bullying in Sport and Physical Activity
Monday 9th September
11:00-12:30pm
Banter and microaggressions are key ways in which exclusionary bullying manifests in sport. These are often more subtle forms of exclusion which have enormous impact over time.
During this training, we will discover the impacts of these behaviours on individuals and the culture of organisations. We will end the webinar by looking at ways to tackle these behaviours as individuals and as an organisation.
The Black and Faith Experience
Monday 14th October
11:00-12:30pm
In this webinar, we will explore the intersection of race and faith within the Black community. We will delve into the rich diversity of experiences, perspectives, and challenges faced by Black individuals who belong to various faith traditions. We will also aim to foster a deeper understanding of the unique dynamics and contributions of the Black and Faith experience. Join us and learn how to cultivate an environment that respects and embraces the intersectionality of race and faith.
Gender Bias in Sport & Physical Activity
Monday 11th November
11:00-12:30pm
Birmingham 2022 was the first-ever major multi-sport event to award more medals to women than men. 49% of athletes attending the Olympics in Tokyo were women, and 40.5% of athletes attending the Paralympics were women.
Whilst this is good news, there is still a long way to go across the whole spectrum of Sport and Physical Activity, especially when considering intersectionality.
This webinar will examine gender bias in sport and how that intersects with other characteristics. We will also explore the underrepresentation of women in different areas of sport, from workforce to participation.
Parents and Carers in Sport
Monday 9th December
11:00-12:30pm
In this training, we will explore the vital role of parents and carers in supporting and nurturing young athletes. The session aims to enhance understanding and provide practical strategies for creating an inclusive and supportive environment for parents and carers within sport. We will delve into their unique challenges and highlight their involvement's benefits.
By the end of the webinar, participants will gain insight into the importance of parental and carer engagement. It will also show ways to foster positive relationships between parents, carers, coaches, and young athletes.
