Husband and Wife Awarded High Sheriff Celebration of parkrun Award

The Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership is teaming up with the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire to celebrate her year themed Sport for Good with some special High Sheriff Recognition Awards.

The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster JP, recently presented parkrun volunteer duo Lynne and John Norman with a Celebration of parkrun Award at the Birchwood Leisure Centre junior parkrun event in Hatfield for outstanding contribution to the parkrun community. It was a great turn out for the special guest to hand out some milestone wrist bands, present Lynne and John with their special award and start the junior parkrun off.

The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster JP said:

"In my year I’m making some special awards for those outstanding people who put so much into our sporting lives, they are the backbone of sport and physical activity. I am delighted to present Lynne & John Norman with a High Sheriff and Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership 'Celebration of parkrun' Award as, despite personal health challenges, they come and volunteer at Birchwood Leisure Centre junior parkrun every week. They have a staggering 440 volunteering credits at parkrun between them! Thank you to Run Director Sally Lafflin, parkrun Ambassador Branka Moss, and parkrun Regional Ambassador Louise Smith, for joining in the surprise!”

If Lynne and John have inspired you to volunteer, there are lots of ways to be involved. parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning. The junior parkrun event is 2k, dedicated to 4-14 year olds and their families, every Sunday morning.
