HSP Achieves Modeshift Stars Accreditation

Effective Travel Plans are vital for a healthier, greener, and safer future, as they promote and enable more sustainable and active modes of transport

Modeshift STARS offers a national accreditation standard for business, education, and community organisations that have demonstrated excellence in supporting walking, cycling, and other forms of sustainable travel by developing and implementing an effective Travel Plan.

Effective Travel Plans are vital for a healthier, greener, and safer future, as they promote and enable more sustainable and active modes of transport. Modeshift has been working with thousands of organisations across the UK since 2008 to improve Travel Plan standards, share best practice and award Modeshift STARS accreditation.

HSP has conducted a travel survey with staff and used it to develop an action plan including: increased car sharing, improved awareness of active travel options at our events and greater awareness of our host’s (University of Hertfordshire) cycle purchase scheme.

“We are delighted to achieve this accreditation.” Commented Adrian Ledbury (HSP lead for Active Environments). “And we will use it to continue to champion greener active travel options for HSP staff and the communities we work with. As an organisation, we are committed to supporting net zero ambitions across the county, including our host (University of Hertfordshire), and this is an important milestone on our environmental sustainability journey.”
