High Sheriff Recognises Herts Disability Sports Foundation
The Herts Disability Sports Foundation wins the "Sport for Good" Award for making sport accessible to all.
The Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership have teamed up with the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire to celebrate her year themed Sport for Good with some special High Sheriff Recognition Awards.
The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster JP visited a Hertfordshire Disability Sports Foundation (HDSF) Boxercise class. This is just one of many fantastic sessions that the team deliver across the week. The HDSF were awarded a special High Sheriff Sport for Good Award for Service to Disability Sport in Hertfordshire. The class was full to the brink with over 30 excited participants ready to meet the special guest as well as get their daily exercise in.
The Foundation is working hard across Hertfordshire to ensure everyone can take part in sport and physical activity. This includes adapted cycling, water sports and community-based activities for adults and young people with additional needs. They are giving so many disabled people in Hertfordshire opportunities to be active, build confidence, friendships and it’s making such an impact on their lives.
In addition to their disability programmes, HDSF is working in areas of deprivation to ensure everyone can cycle and has a bike of their own to use through their Bikes without Barriers programme.
The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster JP said:
