"Part of my role as High Sheriff is to support our amazing volunteers across Hertfordshire, so far I’ve thoroughly enjoyed visiting our Health Walks, parkruns and local clubs to award some really inspiring and special volunteers. In my year I’m making some special awards for those outstanding people who put so much into our sporting lives, they are the backbone of sport and physical activity. These heroes put their efforts into others which is what volunteering is all about. I can’t thank our local volunteers enough and am thrilled to give out these special awards throughout my year. Just a little token to let our volunteers know they are appreciated and valued. What a fantastic way to celebrate National Volunteering Week and I hope it inspires others to get into volunteering.”
