Hertfordshire sees an increase in activity levels, but further action needed

Analysis from the recent results from the Sport England Active Lives Adults Survey 2022-23

Our Insight partners at Press Red, have analysed the most recent results from the Sport England Active Lives Adults Survey 2022-23 to provide an in-depth update of what adult inactivity looks like across Hertfordshire.

According to the survey, 22% of adults or 210,00 people, in Hertfordshire are inactive – that is, they are doing less than 30 mins of moderate intensity physical activity per week.

Press Red have highlighted how different inequalities affect how active our population is. For example, adults with a limiting illness or disability are nearly twice as likely to be inactive when compared to the general population. The update also contains details of how adult inactivity in Hertfordshire varies across different locations and demographic characteristics including ethnicity, age, disability, gender, and deprivation.

HSP is pleased to share this Press Red analysis on our website, and we encourage its consideration by our partners to inform decision making around sport and physical activity across the county.

The Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership (HSP) works strategically and collaboratively to improve the lives of the people of Hertfordshire, by using the power of sport and physical activity to tackle inequality and disadvantage. We work with a range of partners and are involved in a number of initiatives to address the issues contained in this report.
