We recognise the difficulties in finding physical activities to support one’s mental health. Whether you yourself are looking to join an activity, or if you are a professional needing guidance to know where to signpost someone, our interactive map below will be a useful starting point.

Find our interactive map to search through the activity provision across Hertfordshire with a focus on supporting mental wellbeing. You can find locations, prices, contacts and more. You’ll find details on specific criteria for joining sessions e.g., gender-specific, age-specific, SEN and neurodivergent provision, or suitability for certain mental health conditions.

Certain activities are provided online or across several districts and therefore, not included in the interactive map. Please see below for further activities that could be the perfect boost to your mental wellbeing:

Hertfordshire Health Walks

  • Across districts: Dacorum, East Herts, Hertsmere, North Herts, St Albans, Stevenage, Watford & Three Rivers, Welwyn Hatfield, and Broxbourne.
  • Please see the website for further details on latest timetables for walks.
  • All walks are free with no booking required.
  • Turn up 10 minutes before the walk for a pre-walk briefing.
  • Most walks are Monday-Friday with some longer walks on the weekends.
  • If you are returning from an injury or illness, there are optional ‘first steps’ walks to ease people back in.

BEEE Creative – Wake Up & Dance – Online

Active Hertfordshire Karate.

  • Training classes/clubs with an added focus on helping to channel emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing and grow positively, with confidence.
  • Provision for those with learning difficulties as well.

  • First lesson is FREE.

Watford FC Community Sport & Education Trust – Shape Up.

  • A 12-week course for weight management.
  • Aimed at men aged 18 to 65 years-old with a BMI of 30 or over and men from the BAME community with a BMI of 28 or over.

SPACE Hertfordshire.

All sessions are exclusively for neurodivergent children and young people including autism and ADHD. No diagnosis is necessary. Whether you think your child may be neurodivergent, are going through the diagnostic process, or have already received a diagnosis, you are in safe hands.   • Indoor Climbing Experience, second Friday of the month (6.30-7.30pm). Furzefield Leisure Centre, EN6 3BW. Must be 7yrs+. Cost £10.
  • Studio Fly involving aerial relaxation & hammocks ideal for sensory processing and regulation. Studio Fly Ware, SG12 9ES. Second Saturday of the month 2-3pm and 3.15-4.15pm. Must be 6yrs+. Cost £12.50.
  • Mariners (HYMB) Paddle Sports for seasonal fun to learn the basics of paddling, controlling the boats and receive a Level 1 Certificate on completion. At the Herts Young Mariners Base Outdoor Centre, EN8 9AJ. Sunday 9.30am-3pm (seasonal). Must be 8yrs+. Cost £45 (some discounts available). The same venue also offer a Stand Up Paddle Boarding 'Born To Ride' event for £30.
  • Rollerskating - a gentle introduction that focuses on early skating skills. Elm Court Youth & Community Centre, En6 3BP. Last Saturday of the month, 11.10am-12.10pm. Must be 6yrs+. Cost £8.
  • Wellbeing Walk in the Woods: co-led by a member of the SPACE team and Dr Alex Edwards (Clinical Psychologist with specialism in neurodiversity). Campus West Car Park, AL8 6BX. First Thursday of the month 11am-12pm. Yrs 10-16. Cost £5.
  • Therapeutic Farming: an hour of animal and farm-based therapeutic activities at Strawberry Fields Care Farm, AL6 0NH. First Saturday of the month, 1.30-2.30pm and 2.45-3.45pm. Must be 6yrs+. Cost £14.
  • Space to Grow: communcal gardening at Thundridge Allotments, SG12 0RA. Any age. Cost £5.
