She was scanning at the inaugural Cassiobury parkrun and has supported King George, Leavesden and latterly Cassiobury Junior parkruns. She is currently the Event Director of Cassiobury parkrun and her love and enthusiasm for the event has supported over 165000 instances of participation over the last 9 years. She has touched so many people's lives and is a truly exceptional volunteer.

The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster JP said:

“It was a delight to surprise Sharon. Sharon is a fabulous volunteer who has given up so much of her time to make sure others can participate. Thank you for all you’re hard work and for touching so many people’s lives. Well done 559 participants today (many Octogenarians) won in a lightening 14.45 by Thomas Patrick! Thank you amazing Watford Joggers who provided pacing athletes to support others.“

If Sharon has inspired you to volunteer there are lots of ways to be involved. parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning. Junior parkrun is 2k, dedicated to 4-14 year olds and their families, every Sunday morning. Head to the parkrun website to find your local event www.parkrun.org.uk

The Herts Sport and Activity Partnership is excited for the year ahead where they will be recognising lots more local volunteers celebrating their continued hard work to help get more people, more active, more often.
