Activator Essentials - Online Workshop
A free Activator workshop designed to enable learners to lead modified versions of sports or activities in a variety of settings.

Run by StreetGames, this live online training is one in a series of Activator workshops that have been designed and developed to enable learners to lead modified versions of sports or activities in a variety of settings, and with minimal equipment. There is a focus on fun and adaptation, rather than technical ability. Drawing on the principles of teaching games for understanding, they provide numerous activities to enable interaction with young people and understand their motivations.
If your specialism is the enrichment element of delivery but you need help with ideas of how to incorporate physical activity to your offer more this session will provide you with an introduction to Activation in your setting. You will gain knowledge on how to deliver ice-breakers, energisers, team builders and small sided games using minimum to no equipment with some guidance on how to make these activities as inclusive as possible.
The workshop is very participatory, learning will take place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities so please be ready to get involved.
By the end of this workshop you will:
- understand the principles of activation
- be able to describe your audience and where to find them
- Identify ways to adapt activities and tasks to suit the audience
- understand the skills and qualities of an activator
Who is it for? Community sport project and programme leaders, coaches and volunteers.
