NEW Chalk Statues
Chalk Statues
In this activity we want the children to think about their bodies especially their heart and lungs. We want the children to place their hands on their heart to recognise a resting heart rate. Once we have established a resting heart rate get the children to find partners and take it in turns to chalk around each other bodies. Once all the shapes have been drawn encourage the children to draw their hearts on the chalk body. Then introduce some music and as the music plays get the children to skip around the room. When the music stops the children must fit their bodies inside the chalk statues on the floor
Adapt for younger children:
Keep the shapes simple and allow more time for children to get up and down. For non-walkers, mark make circles on the floor for them to crawl inside.
Extension:
Use a larger space and invite children to make complex shapes on the floor for their partner to chalk around.
