HAPpy Learn & Share Spring 2025 - Resources

This page has the full Powerpoint presentation delivered and extra resources provided by the presenters of each session run at the Spring HAPpy Learn & Share held in person at the University of Hertfordshire on Thursday 15th May 2025.

Run during Mental health awareness week (12th-18th May) this was a key theme throughout the event.

Key themes

  • CYP Mental Health, Wellbeing & Physical Activity - Karen Shaw from MIND ran a Spot, Support Signpost session for us and demonstrated activities from their Self-care library. We then hosted facilitated discussions reflecting on what types of mental health challenges you are seeing in the young people attending your camps, what you currently do, and how you can you use their Activity libraries and resources as part of your planning for Summer.
  • Food, Nutrition & Portioning - We engaged the services of University of Hertfordshire Lecturer, Dr Lindsy Kass to run a short workshop for us offering further guidance on the School Food Standards, portion sizing activity relevant to different ages, the benefits of group/communal eating and how you can work with your food providers to make your food offer more nutritious and consistent across the board.
  • Adapting Physical Activities for all ages and abilities using a mental health theme - This was a practical element to the day. After running through key session adaptation theory all the groups were set a task to come up with ideas and games in groups for adapting Ice-breakers, Energisers, Team Builders and Small Sided Games using the STEPS adaptation tool with a key mental health theme. See what games your peers came up with below in the Spring HAPpy Learn & Share - Table discussions & Task notes.
