Welcome to the launch of the “Active Local Hub”

A new community space created through place partnership working in Waltham Cross

Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership (HSP) is delighted to introduce the Active Local Hub, a new community space in Waltham Cross made possible through a strong partnership between the Community Alliance Broxbourne and East Herts and HSP. Together, we’re opening the doors to a space that reflects local needs, supports place-based working, and strengthens opportunities for children, young people, families, and the wider community.

Our partnership brings together the Alliance’s deep understanding of local communities and voluntary-sector support with HSP’s mission to help more people, become more active, more often. By combining expertise in community development, activity, and place-based engagement, we’re creating a Hub designed not just to serve the community, but to grow with it.

Located at the heart of Waltham Cross Playing Fields, the hub brings with it a range of facilities. Inside, visitors will find a bright meeting room suitable for local groups, clubs, workshops, and gatherings, along with a kitchenette, toilets, and changing-room facilities that make it ideal for both social and sports-related activity. Outside, there are opportunities to book both adult and youth football pitches, offering even more ways for the community to come together, be active, and make the most of the space.

"What’s exciting is that we’re building this Hub with the community said Active Local Officer, Matt Ridley. Youth voice, local residents and place-based partners are all helping us shape the timetable and decide what activities and support are needed. Together, we’re creating a space that truly reflects local priorities and better serves the community."

Active Local will be taking over the Hub every Tuesday and Thursday, with HSP team members on site to welcome residents, listen to ideas, and support children, young people, and families to get more active, discover local opportunities, and contribute ideas that will help shape sport and community activities in Waltham Cross.

If you’d like to book the venue for activities, meetings or parties, or if you’re interested in hiring the football pitches, please contact Office Manager, Penny Leighton on 0300 123 1034.
