The 948 Sports Foundation has released a new promotional video (https://vimeo.com/1121127701?fl=pl&fe=sh) (Password: 948) highlighting its work supporting young people’s participation in sport across St Albans and surrounding areas.
The 948 Sports Foundation is a long-established charitable organisation based in St Albans. It was created on the back of funding from the Old Albanian Club, which provided an initial £500,000 endowment to support youth participation in sport within the district via grant funding. Since 2001, the Foundation has awarded more than £400,000 in grants to individuals, schools, clubs and community bodies, making it one of the largest local sporting charities in the county.
What the Foundation Funds
The Foundation’s primary focus is to increase access to sport for young people. Its objectives include advancing physical development for young people in schools, colleges and universities, ensuring they have appropriate facilities and opportunities to participate in physical recreation and sport.
Funding is available for both individuals and organisations, with grants used to support equipment costs, participation fees, travel, or improvements to local recreational opportunities. The Foundation aims to support young people who may face social or economic barriers to engaging in sport, helping to improve their quality of life through increased physical activity.
