Working closely with the Hertfordshire FA, No Limits 2026 Campaign partner, Herts Disability Sports Foundation (HDSF) are attempting to reestablish the Hertfordshire Day Services Football League which was gaining some real momentum in 2020 before having to be abandoned due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Making the most of the Football Association's Journey to Inclusion funding which helps to cover venue hire and some staff costs. HDSF are welcoming a variety of independent and Hertfordshire County Council run groups that offer day service opportunities for adults with special needs and disabilities for a number of taster session match days with a view to creating tiered leagues later in the year that makes sure teams are playing against groups of similar levels of footballing ability in an ongoing sustainable provision.
On Wednesday 3rd June, HDSF in partnership with Hertfordshire FA colleagues kicked off the No Limits Adult Day Services football league with the first taster day festival at Hertfordshire Sports Village which turned out to be a very wet day! Four teams from Leydon House, Greyslates, Borehamwood and Care By Lily Day Services were represented at the event with 20 players registered, kitted up and ready to go.
The weather did not dampen spirits and a fun match between the organisers and Care by Lily Day Service resulted in the first defeat of the season, followed by a disco in the changing rooms!
HDSF are looking forward to much better weather on the next fixture day scheduled for Wednesday 1st of July where they will also welcome teams from the Daylight Club and St. Albans Day services.
