Physical Activity Clinical Champions (PACC) Training - Mental Health

Calling all healthcare professionals to sign onto our upcoming PACC training, focusing on the mental health benefits of exercise

The Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership (HSP) is pleased to announce our next funded Physical Activity Clinical Champions (PACC) training available to healthcare professionals in Hertfordshire.

PACC training focuses on understanding the use and benefits of physical activity for the prevention and management of long-term health conditions. This training will have a specific mental health focus to help raise awareness of the role of movement in supporting the nations mental health by increasing knowledge, skills, and confidence as a healthcare professional. Following the training you should be able to improve patient care and outcomes by feeling more confident in talking about, and promoting, physical activity.

Although the training is primarily targeting clinicians, we welcome all healthcare professionals and those in non-clinical roles can attend too.

Anyone interested in attending can simply register attendance via the link below. Please share across your networks so we can benefit as many patients as possible:

  • 12-1pm Thursday 27th of February: Sign up here.

The training dates will be hosted by HSP and delivered by our local PACC trainer, Vasandhara Thoroughgood.

Vasandhara is a GP based in Suffolk and has a particular interest in lifestyle medicine and planetary health. Vasandhara became a PACC tutor due to her perception that healthcare often takes a reactive approach, treating illness once it is established. Vasandhara uses her lifestyle medicine knowledge within the PACC training to help educate others, aiming to help prevent people becoming ill in the first place.

"What I love about PACC is that it feels so positive to share the message of physical activity and bust some of the myths that people may have heard. It feels great to be part of the movement which is trying to empower our patients to do things to improve their health and it complements my day job very well" - Vasandhara Thoroughgood.

If you have any questions regarding the training, please email z.mckeating@herts.ac.uk. If you’d like to find out more about the wider Moving Medicine work and PACC, you can visit their website.
