As part of the National Paralympic Heritage Trust's ‘Meet the Paralympian’ series, they will be hosting two free online talks with guest speaker Karé Adenegan. One session is aimed at schools and home educated children, and the other at adults, universities and secondary schools. These events will be supported by a BSL interpreter.
Karé Adenegan is a wheelchair racer and seven-time Paralympic medallist who began her journey in athletics at the age of eleven, after watching the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Before discovering wheelchair racing, Karé was excluded from PE lessons at primary school, an experience that highlights how important it is for all young people to feel included and supported in sport.
Just four years after taking up the sport, Karé represented Paralympics GB at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, where she won three medals: silver in the 100m and bronze in the 400m and 800m. She was named the BBC’s Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2018. She has since gone on to win multiple medals at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Karé has cerebral palsy and competes in the T34 classification. In this session, she will share her journey into sport and the exciting experiences she has created for herself along the way.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in a live Q&A, asking Karé questions about her experiences in sport and her journey to the Paralympic Games. Please submit your questions in advance, as indicated during booking.
