HSP and Goods for Good Support Herts Families with Over 300 Donated Items

HSP and Goods for Good are supporting access to sport by providing vital sportswear and equipment to communities across Hertfordshire.

Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership, working in partnership with Goods for Good, is helping to remove barriers to sport and physical activity for communities across Hertfordshire. Together, we aim to ensure that practical support reaches those who need it most, helping to build healthier, more resilient communities.

Goods for Good is an established charity that redistributes essential goods from British industry alongside quality pre-loved items donated by communities. Through a trusted network of partners, these resources are provided directly to vulnerable people. This approach aligns closely with HSP’s commitment to inclusion, tackling financial hardship and wider barriers linked to gender, disability and cultural differences that can prevent people from taking part in sport and physical activity.

By providing appropriate sportswear and equipment, HSP and Goods for Good are creating opportunities for individuals who may otherwise be excluded due to cost or lack of resources. In recent months, support has been delivered directly to community groups across Hertfordshire, including:

Waltham Cross and Cowley Hill: Through our targeted work in these two Place’s, young people aged 12–16 received sports clothing and footwear, helping to remove financial barriers, boost confidence and increase engagement in positive activities, alongside the opportunity for some of them to play football at Vicarage Road Stadium, the home of Watford FC.

Cowley Hill Early Years and family support services: Families with children under 5 who are supported by Cowley Hill Early Years, Borehamwood Family Centre and Home-Start received donated gifts and activity-related items, helping ease financial pressure during the festive period and supporting wellbeing.

Friday Night Project at Hertswood Academy: Local teenage girls attending the project received donated items as a thank you for taking part in a youth consultation, reminding them that their voices are important and will help shape future local opportunities.

Local Accommodation: Families including young people living in government-funded temporary accommodation received Christmas gifts, including sports clothing, enabling them to take part in sport and physical activity safely while providing a much-needed festive boost.

The partnership continues to demonstrate how targeted support and strong local collaboration can make a meaningful difference to communities across Hertfordshire.
