High Sheriff Awards St Albans Health Walk Team

The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire awarded the Highfield Park Health Walk Team, recognising Sue Hawkins and Anne Kitchener for their leadership

The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire Annie Brewster JP presented Highfield Park Health Walk team with a Health Walks Making a Difference High Sheriff Award with a special mention to Sue Hawkins and Anne Kitchener. Tony Bradford, Head of Countryside and Rights of Way at Hertfordshire County Council attended as well and enjoyed congratulating the award recipients.

Sue Hawkins and Anne Kitchener and the St Albans team at Highfield Park have been leading walks in St Albans for a combined total of 28 years. They provide weekly First Steps and grade 3 walks in the lovely setting of Highfield Park, supported by a wonderful team of volunteers who lead walks in the surrounding areas of St Albans.

“Continuing my tour of free, friendly Hertfordshire Health Walks that run all over the county. I was delighted to present a Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership Making a Difference Award to Sue Hawkins and her incredible team of volunteer walk leaders at the Highfield Park Hertfordshire Health Walk today. Sue and Anne Kitchener have been leading free, guided walks in St Albans for a combined total of 28 years... quite incredible! Great to be joined by Tony Bradford, Head of Countryside & Rights of Way at Hertfordshire County Council who has spearheaded Heath Walks from the very start. Well done Tony! Changing lives, physical and mental rehab, community cohesion, a social lifeline for many. Thank you to these wonderful volunteers!”
