Hertfordshire Leading the Movement Leadership Programme Launches

The year-long programme aims to strengthen leadership capacity within Hertfordshire's sport and physical activity sector

The first event of the Hertfordshire Leading the Movement Leadership Programme took place this week at the University of Hertfordshire, de Haviland Campus.

The event brought together 45 leaders across two pathways, senior and aspiring, representing organisations from the sport, physical activity, health, education, leisure operators and community sectors. The group were introduced to the main system leadership concepts and were treated to a presentation from Donna Nolan, CEO, Walford Borough Council who shared her leadership journey and provided top tips for being effective working in multi-partner environments.

The innovative programme, fully funded by HSP, is a year-long development opportunity designed to strengthen leadership capacity across the sector. Developed by the HSP in collaboration with The Leadership Centre, the programme will support leaders at all levels to drive meaningful, system-wide change and tackle the inequalities that shape participation in physical activity across our county.

The programme blends in-person workshops, strategic masterclasses and online action learning sets - it focuses on real-world leadership challenges, cross-sector collaboration and developing confident, values-led leaders who can create impact in complex and fast-changing environments.
