Hertfordshire County Council Launches New Play Pledge

This new pledge looks to support Health and Wellbeing through play.

HSP are proud to be a key partner in the development of Hertfordshire County Council’s (HCC) Play Pledge for Hertfordshire, featured in Hertfordshire’s Director of Public Health Annual Report 2026, Building a Healthier Hertfordshire through Play.

The Play Pledge for Hertfordshire is a shared commitment between HCC, local organisations and partners to champion the importance of play and increase opportunities for everyone to play, whatever their age, background or ability. Recognising that play can support physical and mental wellbeing, build confidence and help people to feel more connected, the pledge sets out six commitments highlighted in the attached document at the bottom of this article.

Together, the established commitments provide a framework for partners to put play into action, creating more opportunities for people to get active in ways that work for them and helping build a more connected Hertfordshire.

As a partner, HSP will champion the pledge through its work across Hertfordshire, helping to raise the profile of play and the role that sport and physical activity can have in getting people together and supporting wellbeing.

HSP are proud to have supported the development of this initiative and look forward to making play a bigger part of everyday life across Hertfordshire.
