Health Professionals Go the Distance in World Cup Challenge

Health professionals across Hertfordshire recently took part in the latest Active Hub challenge to have fun, feel more energised, promoting movement and positive wellbeing within their GP Practice.  

 

The Active Connections Hub is a free-to-access platform for Primary Care Network (PCN) staff across Hertfordshire where they can track and upload their activities as well as participate in ongoing virtual challenges against colleagues, and other surgeries and PCNs. 

The latest challenge was themed around the Fifa World Cup, with Active hub users challenged to compete in teams of 11 to take on one team goal: completing 990km, 90km each across the dates of the tournament. Inspired by the demands of elite football, every walk, run, or ride contributed as the team travelled virtually across North America, tracking progress, unlocking milestones and climbing the leaderboard. The mission was for teams to reach the final stadium in New York in time for the tournament final  

 

An impressive 109 health professionals took part in the challenge, recording a total of 3,158 activities across the 39-day live challenge. Activities logged included, running, cycling, swimming, rowing, workouts, racket sports, and climbing – with 80% of participants walking as their main activity. An incredible distance of almost 13,000km was achieved across the challenge.  

A huge congratulations to the World Cup challenge winners: 

• In first place were Shephall Health Centre, completing the challenge on 21st June, eight whole days before second place! 

• 2nd place – Midway Surgery 

• 3rd place – New Road Surgery
