Brocket Hall and its GOLFA (Game Of Life For All) initiative have marked a significant milestone for inclusive sport in Hertfordshire and the UK by opening the first adventure golf course in a UK primary school.
Located at Southfield School in Hatfield, the project is part of the GOLFA initiative, which aims to introduce golf to children of all abilities and backgrounds. Led by Brocket Hall’s community team, the initiative is designed to make golf accessible and enjoyable for young people, particularly those who may not have had the opportunity to try the sport before.
The official opening at Southfield Primary in Hatfield was attended by Roger Chapman, a two-time senior major winner and long-standing figure on the European and Legends Tours, alongside school staff and community representatives. The event celebrated the completion of Phase 1 of the GOLFA programme, led by Head of Communities Stu Williams and Chairwoman Annie Brewster, which has already introduced over 1,000 children across the county to golf in just eight months.
Following the success at Southfield School, the GOLFA initiative is now looking to expand its reach across Hertfordshire. Plans are already underway to install a state-of-the-art golf simulator at Knightsfield School in Welwyn Garden City, with the aim of providing a fun and engaging experience for their students, many of whom face deteriorating hearing conditions.
