Complete the North Herts Consultation to Support Community Volunteers

The project supports community and sports club volunteers through a consultation aimed at identifying needs and enhancing volunteer resources

Sports clubs are vital to community life, creating spaces for playing, coaching, spectating, and volunteering. Whether on the field or behind the scenes, the excitement of match days unites people through a shared love for their local sports clubs.

Beyond the visible action on match days, the true heartbeat of these clubs is their volunteers. Often working behind the scenes, these selfless individuals are the ones who paint the changing rooms, organise fixtures, fundraise and much more ensuring a welcoming environment for all. Volunteers take on roles as kit managers, welfare officers, and event organisers, helping sports clubs thrive while fostering a sense of belonging and fulfillment. Their dedication not only helps their community clubs run but also builds lasting connections and skills that benefit the whole community.

To honour and support these valuable contributions, the North Herts Volunteering Project, funded by North Herts District Council, has launched an initiative to uplift local sports club volunteers. In collaboration with North Herts CVS and Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership, Active in the Community has initiated a district-wide consultation to understand volunteer needs better and to provide tailored support.

Through this project, we are engaging with local sports clubs across North Hertfordshire to gain insights into the role volunteering has within your club, identify areas where we can support your efforts in the volunteering sector, and explore ways to ensure your contributions are appropriately recognised. By partnering with industry experts in both community sport and volunteering we aim to offer resources, toolkits, and funding to ensure volunteers feel equipped and valued. We invite all sports club volunteers to share their experiences by completing our consultation form, which can be found here. Participants will also be entered into a draw for the chance to win one of five £100 equipment vouchers for their club.

Together, let’s ensure North Herts’ sports clubs continue to thrive as community hubs. For more information, contact Adam Nnochiri at adam.nnochiri@aitc.org.uk or call 07399 004743.
