Coach Education Week - 2025
Over 400 people and 40 courses, Coach Education Week comes to an end after another impactful programme!

Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership (HSP) proudly wrapped up another hugely successful Coach Education Week. The week-long programme once again delivered an array of valuable learning opportunities for sport coaches, physical activity deliverers and other professionals across Hertfordshire and beyond. With a blend of in-person and online sessions and a mix of free and paid courses, the week catered to a broad range of needs and skill levels. Throughout the week, over 300 people engaged with the programme, with exceptionally high attendance on the Reducing the Risk of Falls Frailty and Dementia webinar and The Experiences of Women with Yvonne Harrison.
The 2025 programme, the 17th iteration of the campaign, covered a diverse selection of topics including mental health awareness, falls prevention, working with long-term health conditions, and dealing with challenging behaviour. There remained a strong emphasis on safeguarding and welfare which aligned with Sport England’s large-scale investment into Sport Welfare Officers, demonstrating HSP’s commitment to raising the levels of safeguarding across the sector. Additionally, in honour of LGBTQ+ History Month, the programme featured courses that championed inclusivity and the LGBTQ+ community in sport, reinforcing the importance of inclusion and awareness.
Charlie Mann, Clubs and Workforce Lead at HSP, reflected on the week’s achievements: “The continued growth and success of Coach Education Week is a real testament to the dedication of everyone involved. To have sustained this programme for 17 years, while evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of coaches and deliverers, is something we are incredibly proud of. It’s inspiring to see the impact the programme has, not just locally, but on a wider scale. The number of partners and deliverers that actively want to contribute to the week continues to grow year on year and highlights the reputation and credibility the programme has gained”.
Engagement across the week was outstanding, with both participants and delivery organisations providing positive feedback. Many participants shared how the knowledge gained would directly enhance their coaching practice, while delivery partners praised the smooth organisation and high-quality delivery of courses, with one attendee stating “I always keep an eye out for Coach Ed Week, I have been attending courses for several years and it is a real lifeline for local clubs and coaches and is always very well organised”.
