Brocket Hall Golf Club is celebrating the success of its community outreach initiative, GOLFA (Game of Life For All) No Limits 2026 programme, which has created inclusive opportunities for children, young people, women and families to discover and enjoy golf in a welcoming and supportive environment. The initiative has also been strongly supported by long time Brocket Hall Golf club member and No Limits 2026 Patron Annie Brewster, whose advocacy continues to champion inclusive opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to be active.
Since launching in February, the programme has delivered a range of sessions and events designed to break down barriers to participation and demonstrate that golf is a sport for everyone. Highlights have included regular SEND family sessions, a series of activities during This Girl Can week, and a successful partnership with local charity Potential Kids.
One of the standout successes came during This Girl Can week in June, which welcomed more than 80 women and girls from schools and community groups across Hertfordshire. The week aimed to encourage participation among those who may not traditionally engage in sport, introducing golf through fun, accessible and supportive activities.
Among the highlights was a visit from the 30th St Albans Guides, a special unit set up in 2022 exclusively for girls with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), who enjoyed an evening of golf activities at Brocket Hall. The group took part in driving range challenges and putting competitions, offering the girls the opportunity to try something new while building confidence and developing their skills in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
Following the session, Guide leader Sue said:
Thanks so much for the fantastic evening you put on for our Guides last night. They and the parents and leaders thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not sure it could have gone much better, even the weather behaved. It was great to see them all actively engaged. The driving range was a big success and the girls seemed to love the element of competition with the putting challenges.
One of Girlguiding's straplines is 'Girls can do anything' and I think they fully demonstrated that.
Another significant achievement has been the programme's partnership with Potential Kids, a Hertfordshire-based charity supporting neurodivergent children and young people. Over a two-month period, participants attended regular GOLFA sessions at Brocket Hall, with organisers reporting a noticeable impact on confidence, self-esteem and enjoyment of the game.
The sessions provided opportunities for young people to develop new skills, spend time outdoors and build positive relationships in an environment designed to meet their individual needs. The partnership highlights how inclusive sport can support personal development while creating meaningful opportunities for participants and their families.
One parent said:
So proud of how much my son is getting out of the Learn to Golf sessions with the GOLFA programme at Brocket Hall with Potential Kids. He’s growing in confidence each week, trying new things, and actually looking forward to going – which is huge for him. It’s amazing to see him enjoying a sport in a way that feels safe, supported, and genuinely fun. These opportunities rarely come along for neurodivergent children, so this is very special! Thank you.
Other engagements have included Monthly SEND family golf sessions which have provided families with opportunities to enjoy physical activity together regardless of age, experience or ability. The sessions have created a welcoming, non-judgemental environment where participants can socialise, learn new skills and spend quality time together.
The Golf club has hosted a number of school visits from TAP girls (targetted activity program) where schools identify non sporty/inactive girls to try something new and also held its first ever No Limits inclusive family golf festival, which welcomed eight families to Brocket Hall.
Reflecting on the programme's achievements, Stuart Williams, GOLFA and Community Development Lead at Brocket Hall, described the past six months as full of "amazing highlights", praising the enthusiasm of participants and partners alike.
