Become a Parkrun Practice
A social prescribing project with parkrun and the RCGP, promoting health and wellbeing to patients and staff.
The Royal College of General Practitioners have collaborated with parkrun UK to promote health and wellbeing of staff and patients through this social prescribing project – parkrun practice! As a parkrun practice, the GP surgery encourages staff and patients to take part in parkrun. Well over 2,000 GP surgeries are now parkrun practices.
Being a parkrun practice helps you to:
- Improve the health and wellbeing of practice staff and patients, reducing the need for lifelong medicine
- Support the move towards personalised care and social prescribing
- Strengthen connections with the local community
- Improve staff morale, relationships between staff members and with other local practices
- Have a conversation with your staff, patients, and community and get them involved in a positive community activity
Get Started:
- Contact your local parkrun and have a chat with the volunteer team
- Register your surgery as a parkrun practice
- Start signposting patients and staff to parkrun
- Take part and have fun as a walker, jogger, runner or volunteer
