Physical Education professionals from across Hertfordshire came together on 1st October at Hertfordshire Sports Village for the fifth workshop in the No Limits 2026 Disability Inclusion Learning Series, focusing on enhancing inclusive PE and school sport through the effective use of adapted equipment.
The free practical session welcomed a diverse mix of School Games Organisers, primary and secondary PE leads, Extracurricular Coaching agencies and the Herts Inclusion 2028 lead. Delivered by an experienced inclusion tutor and supported by trusted schools’ equipment provider Sports Directory, the workshop explored common barriers to participation and provided attendees with practical strategies to create more inclusive experiences for children and young people in both mainstream and special school settings.
Participants gained hands-on experience with a wide range of adapted equipment and learned how simple adaptations, equipment swaps, and thoughtful planning can help more pupils engage confidently in PE, sport, play and competition. Real-life case studies and practical examples helped bring the learning to life and demonstrated how inclusive approaches can be embedded across the wider school sport environment.
The event also created valuable new connections. Ros Cramp from Herts Disability Sports Foundation attended to meet schools that had identified pupils in need of wheelchairs. As a direct result, two young people from Simon Balle School and Pinewood School are set to benefit from donated wheelchairs provided through the charity.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with participants describing the session as:
“Very informative with lots of practical ideas” also praising the “great knowledge and lots of information given”
The workshop is another example of how the No Limits 2026 campaign is supporting schools and partners to develop more inclusive opportunities, ensuring that every child has the chance to enjoy the benefits of physical activity and sport.
