National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs) have responsibility for managing their specific sport in England. They are independent, self-appointed organisations that deliver programmes that encourage more people playing sport.

From April 2017, Sport England is investing nearly £189 million of National Lottery and Government funding into 46 NGBs to get more people playing sport regularly and keeping that healthy habit. HSP works directly with NGBs to help ensure successful outcomes, increasing participation, coaching, club development, disability and talent development. For more information about how Sport England works with the NGBs, visit the Sport England website.
