This Girl Can in Herts Winter Series 2021

‘This Girl Can in Herts Winter Series Offers Festivals and Webinars to Empower and Celebrate Women being active

Following lockdown, there have been fluctuations in terms of maintaining our physical fitness. According to research by Women in Sport, 32% of women said that they could not prioritise exercise due to their commitments to other factors in their life, such as children, home schooling and work. Many of these women believe that losing their fitness has had a long-term effect.

In collaboration with Local Authority partners, Sport England and local instructors, the Herts Sports Partnership have coordinated five free physical activity festivals that local women and girls will be able to participate in across two Saturdays (13th and 20th November) delivered in five of the Partnership Active Local areas.

In addition, three evening webinars are also on offer, all of which, work to provide girls and women with opportunities that will allow them to overcome any boundaries they have in regards to physical fitness and wellbeing.

Speaking about the ‘This Girl Can in Herts’ Winter series, Alex Varran, Women and Girls Lead at the Herts Sports Partnership said:

“At the Herts Sports Partnership, we are passionate about supporting greater participation in sport and physical activity among women and girls in Hertfordshire. The Winter programme is a great opportunity for women of all abilities to partake in a range of activities they may have not tried before, which we hope will be the catalyst for future participation. Our partners have been brilliant in supporting the series, and we hope it inspires females across the county to get active.”

At the Festivals in Jackmans, Sopwell, and Bedwall, participants will be able to get a taste of Breeze Cycling Ride, Yoga, Line Dancing and Salsacize, to name a few. Other activities on offer across the festival programme include Baby and Buggy Pilates at Welwyn Garden City and Self Defence in Borehamwood.

Also included in the ‘This Girl Can in Herts’ Winter series are three webinars, which will allow participants to listen to informative presentations on the following topics, ‘Coaching’,  ‘Exercise, Training and Health advice for females’ and ‘Participant Experience.’ All workshops are free and hosted by experts in each field including Fadi Mazloum (Stevenage Womens Manager) and Sian Williams (Ex England player and former Wales and Watford Women’s Manager).

These exciting opportunities aim to make women and girls their best selves. For more details on the Festivals and Webinars, please click here.
