Grovehill of Hemel Hempstead is HSP’s Active Local area for Dacorum in partnership with Dacorum Borough Council. Josh Spavins is the Project Officer linked to Grovehill and has kindly been hosted by Community Action Dacorum.

The area is full of potential and the organisations and people involved are passionate about developing their community. My role is to support DBC and deliver sport for social change. The Connectedness Score above is significantly lower than the Herts and nationwide average. My overall aim is to raise this score, bring the community, the facilities and community sport closer together.

This will start with extensive community consultation, where we speak to and listen to what residents want. Resident feedback is essential for us to provide local organisations with valuable insight and meet the needs of the community.

There’s a lot going on in Grovehill already. A lot of my work will be to help develop these provisions and ensure residents have access and know about them. HSP have lots of exciting projects designed to provide physical activity and sport to those most in need. My background and experience will help drive youth engagement in the area. Working in partnerships, I will facilitate Sporting Chance sessions, a Career Mode Academy and much more down the line.
