To find out where you can get active in Hertfordshire, please click on the “Getting Active” pages which are listed in the menu to the left of this page.

Physical Activity can reduce your risk of major illnesses, such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer by up to 50% and lower your risk of early death by up to 30%.

Exercise is the miracle cure we’ve always had, but for too long we’ve neglected to take our recommended dose. Our health is now suffering as a consequence

Research shows that physical activity can also boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy, as well as reducing your risk of stress, depression, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

So… Because physical activity is so good for us, we have a number of initiatives to help improve the health and wellbeing of the Hertfordshire adult population.

We have a number of projects that are happening across Hertfordshire. Please see the list below for details:

Active Together: Weekly strength and balance classes for older adults taking place across Hertfordshire.

Carers project – Weekly sessions for Carers and those they care for, to meet for a coffee and a chat and take part in some gentle physical activity.

Active Herts: One to one consultations for adults living in Broxbourne, Watford and Hertsmere who would like to become active.
