Recently, more than 40 representatives of a range of organisations from across Hertfordshire’s sport, leisure and physical activity sector, gathered at the University of Hertfordshire’s Sports Village for an Apprenticeship Showcase.
The use of apprenticeships by employers within the sector is becoming increasingly important, and the event was organised by the Herts Sports and Physical Activity Partnership, in conjunction with colleagues from the University of Hertfordshire, StreetGames UK and Stevenage based Sporting Futures Training Ltd – to bring delegates up to speed with policy developments, opportunities, costs and pathways for apprenticeships within the sector.
Below are two of the presentations shown on the day:
Degree Apprenticeships: Dr. Kate Byford and Professor Elizabeth Pike, University of Hertfordshire
This session covered the university’s degree apprenticeships, including proposals for sport/physical activity related programmes and links to the Chartered Institute of Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
Sporting Futures Training Ltd: Jill Eaton
This session focused on the work of Stevenage based Sporting Futures Training Ltd. Established in 2011 the company works across the UK, currently supporting over 200 apprentices within schools and community settings.
