It was standing room only at the Herts Sports and Physical Activity Partnership’s Annual Partners’ Meeting, held recently at the Hertfordshire Sports Village, University of Hertfordshire.

More than 100 representatives from a range of sports, leisure and physical activity organisations from across Hertfordshire gathered to hear keynote addresses from the Hertfordshire’s Director of Public Health, Jim McManus, and CEO of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), Tara Dillon.

Other presentations were received from the Partnership’s Deputy Director, Jane Shewring who reviewed the successes of the previous 12 months and Alex Varran who launched the 2018 This Girl Can in Herts programme, taking place from 18th-24th June.

Following the event, expertly compered by Matt Hughes-Short, Partnership Director John O’Callaghan said.

“We are indebted to the large number of organisations that sent representatives to our Annual Partners’ Meeting. It was such a pleasure to welcome those from clubs, leisure facilities, coaching agencies, National Governing Bodies of Sport, School Sports Partnerships, parkruns, health walks and the community arms of professional football clubs.

Feedback from the event has been very positive and our guest speakers’ presentations certainly resonated with those present. Hertfordshire has a proud tradition of proactive and effective partnership working, and this gathering was further testament of that.

In Jim and Tara, we had two of the most respected figures from the world of public health, sport and leisure and to hear them speak about the Partnership in such glowing terms, provided a ringing endorsement for our work. Personally, it made me feel very proud of what our fantastic staff team is achieving in helping to make Hertfordshire a more active and better place to live and work.”
