Getting Active in Herts
Throughout April we will be encouraging adults to get active and try new activities. Listen to Fiona Deans chatting to Radio Verulam about the activities on offer!
This page will point you in the right direction to find out what’s happening near you. Below we have listed a range of types of activities and websites to look up for further information. You will also find more detailed information on the pages listed in the menu to the left of this page.
In addition to the information below, we have written a series of tweets and Facebook posts that we would like as many organisations as possible to use to help spread the messages.

|Parkrun||parkruns are free, weekly timed 5km runs which can be walked or jogged. Visit www.parkrun.org.uk to find your nearest parkrun. If you have children, join them on a junior parkrun which is only 2km. (Note: only children are counted as participants but you can join them as they run round).|
|Hertfordshire Health Walks||There are lots of social walks that take place across Herts every week, led by trained volunteers. All walks are graded from beginner through to advanced walkers. Visit: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk and enter "health walks" in the search bar|

|Swimming||Swimming is a great activity for all ages. It is gentle on your joints and a good way to improve your fitness and mood. To find where your local pool is, visit https://www.swimming.org/poolfinder/|
|Exercise on referral||These are a great way for people with long term health conditions to increase physical activity levels and improve health. Sessions are supervised by qualified instructors who understand the needs of people with long term health conditions. Speak to your GP or community pharmacist to find out more.|
|Herts Disability Sports Foundation||The foundation offers a range of sports activities for people with a disability and training opportunities for participants, coaches and day service staff.
