As part of the Herts Sports Partnership’s annual Coach Education Week, Richard Cheetham MBE – UK Coaching’s Coach Educator of the Year 2018 – will be delivering a session in the county.
Cheetham, who is based at the University of Winchester is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and visionary Coach Educators, and he has kindly agreed to deliver the inaugural David Wray Memorial Lecture on Monday 18th February from 9.30am – 12 noon at the University of Hertfordshire’s de Havilland Campus, in Hatfield.
David Wray who passed away in 2016 was a highly respected member of the Herts Sports Partnership’s Board and along with former HSP team member Rob Hardwick, was a founding father of the annual Coach Education Week – which has provided development opportunities for over 9,000 sports coaches and physical activity instructors since its inception in 2008.
Cheetham’s session will seek to highlight, through practical application, the critical elements which contribute to an effective coaching environment, by adopting a more creative and holistic approach. The session is offered free of charge and can be booked here.
In welcoming the initiative, Partnership Director John O’Callaghan said:
“We are delighted that such a highly regarded Coach Educator as Richard Cheetham has agreed to be part of our annual Coach Education Week. It is also very fitting that he will deliver the inaugural David Wray lecture, as David was instrumental in the setting up of this programme, which has become the biggest of its kind in the UK. I know that he would be very proud at the way this programme has established itself in the Hertfordshire sporting calendar.”
