Getting Fit at Fifty and beyond

Older people in the district are being offered the change to get more active with a range of taster activities put on for free by Herts Sports Partnership. The activities include the chance to try pilates, yoga, dance, badminton, short-mat bowls, table tennis and even indoor kurling.

Joe Capon, Herts Sports Partnership’s Activity Development Officer explains: “The free sessions are a chance for older people to try out some fun and sociable activities in their local community. Keeping active as we get older is important for long term good health, but for most people the opportunities to socialise, have a bit of fun and try something new are just as important.”

He added: “We want to give people the chance to join in with activities in their local village and community halls rather than having to travel a long distance. The beauty of these sessions is that those who try the taster sessions can then choose which ones they’d like to more of.”

All sessions are free and no special clothing or equipment is needed, just comfortable clothing and shoes.

For details of the dates, times and location of the sessions click here or contact Joe Capon on 01707 281006, email j.capon2@herts.ac.uk.
