The Herts Youth Games, sponsored by the Herts Sports Partnership has been taking place for 16 years. It attracts around 1000 young athletes, from the 10 local authorities of Hertfordshire. 11 competitive events take place over one day at the stunning facilities of the Hertfordshire Sports Village, University of Hertfordshire.
The Victor Ludrum Trophy is the ultimate reward for the winning local authority team. However the overall aim of the Games is to have a celebration of sport for its own sake. It is a celebration of sport development, seeking to raise the profile of sport, encourage the involvement and development of coaches, leaders and volunteers; and also to promote sporting attitudes of health, fun, fair play and enjoyment of participation.
This years Games took place on Saturday 26th of June where the 2009 winning district, East Herts, retained The Victor Ludrum Trophy. For more details and photographs of this years event click here.
The Herts Youth Games Association is a group of people who are responsible for planning and putting this event on each year. A huge amount of hard work, effort and planning goes in to making this event happen. There are key people throughout the county who have a dedicated role in achieving this.
