coach managers standards

Ensuring you have the right standards in place

When any organisation is responsible for recruiting, employing and deploying coaches in sport it is important to ensure there are high quality and consistent standards in place. The Herts Sports partnership Coach Management Standards can provide you with templates for what a coach MUST HAVE, COULD HAVE and SHOULD HAVE.

These standards and their templates have been designed as part of the Herts Sports Partnership’s Coach Manager Stevenage Pilot Project as a result of the HSP Coaching Strategy 2003-2008.

The templates are intended for use by any organisation, professional or voluntary, to amend and use as appropriate in your structures.

The Standards in each of the areas have been split into three sections: MUST HAVE, COULD HAVE, and SHOULD HAVE. The HSP recommend the adoption of the MUST HAVE standards as the minimum that any organisation responsible for coaches adopt.

The implementation of the standards is non-prescriptive. They have been designed to be applied to mechanisms which best suit each individual organisation.
